need opinions
« on: February 11, 2007, 02:49:17 PM »
I dont have a lot of time as Im on the run, but basically my dfs niece appointed herself a bridesmaid, which is fine as we planned to ask her ;)
However, shes picked her own dress, which is also fine, its pink, which isnt exactly the wedding colors but Im not going to get all uppity about it as it will still go nicely ;)

The question I have is I am going to have a blue hydrangea/cream rose bouquet, and found a really nice green/pink hydrangea bridesmaids bouquet.

Is that too much pink on her or will it be ok? Or am I ending up leaning toward making the colors more pink and cream that way? Would blue (the light creamy type of blue, I dont want the vivid blue ones!) clash with the pink if I decided to have her bouquet in the same colors, or does it make more sense to have her bouquet a different color from mine?

Sorry Im rambling Im afraid....I have to go! Any help would be great :)

I think you should have her bouquet different then yours. What you are planning sounds lovely and I don't think it is too much pink. It sounds like you are doing a great job going with the flow and not getting stressed but don't be afraid to speak up if you don't agree with something she wants..it is your wedding :).

I think her flowers should be different, but still go together colour wise.  Why not just a cream (or light pink with cream) bouquet for her?  Since its the same flowers, I think it would go together well.

When are you planning on getting married?

I'm having the same bouquet for myself and my bridesmaids...theirs will just be 1/2 the size of mine.  I think you should do whatever you want to do and think will look nice.  Blue and pink are great together, but if you go with the pink & green, that would be fine too.

thanks :) my main concern is the color of her dress...the more I think of it the more I prefer it be blue if she intends to act as a true bridesmaid and stand up.

The problem is I'm shy, so I don't like asserting myself, even regarding my own wedding! And her mom is paying for the flowers/cake..so I sort of feel like, if I insult them (even by accident) they may retract that, and we really need all the help we can get. Id like to find a similar dress to the one she picked out, that way she has the style she wants, and I get the color I want.

However with my first wedding it was all decided by my exe's family how things would be done, and it bothered me until I knew the marriage was over and then I no longer cared...it sounds really petty but this day is important to me, and I'd like to for once have things my way.

Then I would tell her - hey, ya know, I was planning on having you wear blue as it's one of my colours.  Would you be willing to try to find a dress like the pink one but in blue?  It would really work better and blue would look great on you too.

Best of luck!

Thanks- diplomatic I am not ;)

The unfortunate thing is I cant find a dress for a bridesmaid thats around the same price as the dress she found so I may end up with a bridesmaid in pink. Her mom's paying for our flowers/cake, but df's mom is paying for his nieces dress, the ceremony etc etc so I dont want to make her pay more :/

In the end, what really matters is that we're married, I am sooo ready for it (mentally hehe)!
