Moving back cost less than moving to UK?
« on: February 17, 2007, 12:31:03 PM »
We're looking at relocation costs to move back to the States.  To Massachusetts (around Boston), specifically.

Seems to me, that many of the costs coming over wouldn't apply to us repatriating, and want to see if anyone has experienced this, or has thoughts on the issue.

We paid (or the company paid) quite a bit to the Relo Consultants.  Looking back, some of their help was really important like help finding rental housing.  It was overwhelming to us looking at housing in a new country on top of everything else.

But other services, like lining up the hired furniture, linens, basic groceries - we wouldn't need that this time.  The hired furniture cost a fortune!

There were other costs like setting up BT and electricity, gas that we could handle ourselves in the States.  I know there are variances between U.S. States but at least this is a country we're fairly well accustomed.  A realtor could show us around, or my husband could get info and look around on his own, no consultant needed.

Thanks for advice, thoughts!
