Good GP in Manchester?
« on: March 03, 2007, 01:16:45 PM »
I'm looking for a good, preferrably female, GP in the Manchester area. Has anyone seen someone that they've really liked and would recommend?

It depends on where in Manchester you're located.  GP's only take on patients w/in their area.  I live in Didsbury and when I registered w/ my GP she checked that my street was on there list.  You should be able to find a list of GP's at http://www.nhs.uk/England/Doctors/Default.aspx just enter your post code

Like Lindyloo said, you dont get to pick whichever doctor you want.  You'll be in a catchment area for a particular surgery, which might have only one doctor, or might have several.   If you join  a surgery that has more than one doctor, you might be able to choose from one of those.

If you're looking for a female doctor or nurse for your GYN needs, however, Manchester probably has a family planning clinic.  They'll see you if you don't like your GP or need specialist treatment.
