My hummus recipe (I got it from a Syrian friend):

4 cloves garlic
about 2 pounds canned chickpeas, drained well
1 cup tahini
¼ cup fresh lemon juice
1/3 cup water
¾ t salt
¼ t black pepper

Puree in blender until very smooth and creamy. Chill for several hours. Let stand 30 minutes at room temperature before serving. Top with olive oil and red sumac powder.

I have to admit I haven't looked for ingredients since I moved to the UK, but there isn't anything too exotic in it.

Mmmmm....hungry....

I found tahini today at my local co-op (along with hazelnut and walnut butter..yum!).  Now if I could just find a proper pie plate!!!

I must be weird, I can't stand the taste of tahini.  I used to make my own houmous and leave that out, just blended cooked chickpeas with a load of lemon juice & garlic.

Ditto. I hate the stuff. Not fond of sesame at all really. My houmus is a Lebanese recipe I found that is similar: chickpeas, loads of lemon and garlic, and some chili. De-lish!!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I bought and have eaten houmous from M&S!  ACK!

I don't like much tahini... only a dab in mine...
