cortisone injections on the NHS?

does anyone know if they are covered on the NHS?
i was just curious before i ask my GP about it...

I guess it would depend on what the injections are for 

they/it would be for pain in my left knee (which it due to eroded cartiage.)
i need to call my GP again this coming week... (sigh)

Hi, I'm waiting for a cortisone injection in my foot, the NHS ortho consultant I was referred to was going to do it when I was in to see him(after a five month wait for an appt.) but he said I could make an appt to have it done with a local anesthetic. I would have had it done when I was in to see him if I had known that it would take another 4 months to have it done. Supposedly it is done as a day case in the hospital(don't know why) and it's gonna take forever to get an appt.   Back home I could have it done at a podatrist office. Hope you have better luck getting it done.

oh gods i'm going to mention it to my doctor and see what she says. the NHS waits can be such a pain, but i guess thats a price we pay for it. i may see how much it is privately, but i can imagine its gonna be a lot :I

i hope you can get it sooner rather than later..
