Started the Vet stuff Today!
« on: March 10, 2007, 02:21:53 PM »
It is official!  My first major step in planning my move started today.  I took both my dogs to the vet and got their rabies vaccines (they were already microchipped) and made the appointment for the blood draw.  Feels so good to get all this started!  They should be able to fly by November and I am planning on leaving late December/early January.

The vet was awesome!!  She really knew her stuff and regularly checks for updates.  The only issue we had was with the APHIS 7001 form.  She couldn't remember what it was for, but, once she found it, she said, "Oh right, the USDA form!"  She said that all the info we needed to fill out the forms was in the files--I saw her put it in--and that we would actually start to fill out the forms closer to my departure date (which isn't set yet).

I am on my way and so are my doggies!  YAY!!!   ;D ;D ;D

That's great! And you're very lucky you have a vet who's on top of it all - it'll make things so much easier for you.  :)

So glad you're on your way to the big move.  It's such a great feeling to be actually doing things, instead of just planning!!  Looks like you've lucked out to have a knowledgeable vet, that should make the whole pets scheme go smoothly for you.

My vet really was very knowledgeable.  I did show up prepared with all the stuff I had pulled off of the DEFRA site and this site.  I was prepared for having to explain everything like many of you had to.

If anyone needs a vet near the Boston area in order to get this stuff done, PM me and I will give you my vet's contact info.  Also, the price for two dogs was extremely reasonable as well.
