Cupcake help
« on: March 10, 2007, 08:33:14 PM »
Just as I put the cupcakes in the oven, I realized that I had used 2oz less butter than the recipe called for.  I blame it on the sticks to ounces to whatever conversions.  I know that for baking the recipe must be followed pretty much to the T to get the desired results.  So, those of you expert bakers out there, do you think the cupcakes will be OK?  TIA

I think they should be ok, its not that much less butter.  Do post again when they come out, I'm curious!! For future reference, here is the site I use for all conversions...

http://www.onlineconversion.com/

They have a specific section just for converting butter!  ;)

All done!  Well, they aren't the best but they are not bad either.  The butter frosting makes them really yummy!  Not exactly healthy but hey!  Must keep trying for the perfect cupcake!

I'm sure they will be. I don't think recipes have to be followed to a T because I have never seen a pro chef (on tv) use measing cups/spoons.

Not an expert baker, but definitely an expert on failing to convert US to UK measurements properly - I think they will turn out okay!

Let us know how they turned out!

I'd guess they might be  a tad drier than you'd want but otherwise it would be ok.

Butter icing - yummy!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
