Provisional license and past medical condition

So I sent all the stuff in for my provisional license a week ago, so I know it's not time to panic yet. The DVLA website says it aims to have your provisional license to you in 3 weeks, unless you have a medical condition they have to look into further.

So here's my question. If anyone here has had a medical condition they had to declare, how long did it take to get the provisional license back? I had epilepsy when I was younger and have not had a seizure in 6 years and am not on any medication. But I did fill out the information since it wanted to know if there had been any seizures in 7 years, and I'm an honest person and figured I should disclose everything.

I think my lack of patience is getting to me as all I want to do right now is start taking some driving lessons. I've only been here for 2 weeks, but I miss driving and it'll be helpful to drive so I can look a bit further afield for a job.

Been there, done that, still have the scars to prove it. I went through this last summer when I disclosed my Type 2 diabetes to the DVLA. I'm sure I'm an extreme case but it took almost 60 days to receive my provisional license along with a letter from their medical examiner saying that I was fit to drive. The medical clearance for me was just a formality since I'm not on insulin but it still was delayed.

Did you read over the medical information either through the DVLA website or on Directgov (http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/MedicalRulesForDrivers/DG_10010623)? They say that they try render a decision within the 15 days but if they need more information, it will take longer. If you didn't fill out the EP1 questionnaire and send it in, I would expect a delay in processing.

BTW, you know you can drive on your US license for a year, right? You only need the provisional license to book your tests but you shouldn't need it to take driving lessons. I know that some instructors insist on you having your provisional license before starting but they're not all like that.

I'm going to try and phone up some driving lesson places this week and see if they'll work with me with just my US license. I also want to get the theory and hazard perception tests out of the way as quickly as possible.
