Wonder what the cost of it'll be?  I'd go for it :)  Tend to get stuff like that on the run when in town.  I don't much eat hamburgers and chicken sandwiches get oldl.  Love sausage rolls as an alternative there as well :)

I love the ham and cheese pastys from Gregg's. It's cheap and filling. I've been known to have it 2-3 times a week.  :P

Interesting. Cornish pasties came about as a meal for miners to eat down the mines. One end of the pasty contained the savory meat filling and the other end contained jam or other sweet filling. The frilly bit on top was for them to hold it by cause their hands would be filthy and they discarded that bit after eating the rest of the pasty.

I think there's actually more pasty shops in York than there are burger or pizza places. I tend to go for their panninis though as most of the pasty's I've tried have too many onions for my taste.

(And it took me quite some time to stop calling them pastys with a long 'a'  :-[)

I do still have to pause to make sure I'm saying it right. Could be why I don't usually buy them!

It took me even longer to stop mentally associating the pasty with the 'exotic dancer' type pasty though.  ::) ;) It does bring up some funny mental images...or maybe it's just me!
