Wedding Announcements
« on: May 11, 2007, 02:12:45 PM »
It looks like DF and I will be "eloping."  A planned elopement (because we want a truly small ceremony and this is the only way to get it) actually.

Afterwards, I will be sending announcements, but, I have a little problem.  We won't actually be living together for some months (due to moving issues and impending military stuff), so, what address should I list on the announcement?  The UK address (his mother's for the time being) because that is where we will ultimately settle or my address in the states?

Help!

You could put both that way both families will have an address in the country they are in to send gifts to. Otherwise, I'd put one address where you know you'll be just in case you get some stragglers that dont' arrive right away. At least that way they'll go to an address that's still ok.

I think it depends on where you'll be living eventually... which is the UK, right?

if so I think I would put the UK address on.  you'll want gifts sent there, right?  would your fmil have any issue with that?

Yes, we are settling in the UK in 2008.  I don't think that my family would have an issue with it, but, you never know...

One friend suggested putting on the announcement "making a home together in England in 2008."  Does that work?  There will be a return address on the envelope.

I think that sounds good. With announcements, you can get away with quite a lot. As long as your fMIL knows you could be receiving gifts there and is ok with it, I'd use the UK address.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
