DCF Filing Eligibility - When do I start counting?
« on: May 18, 2007, 01:49:07 PM »
I've tried searching for this here and on DIA but can't seem to find an answer.  I am a USC married to an EU national. I was here on a student visa for 16 months, my visa expired, we got married in the US, came back here with an EEA permit.  Does my stay here on a student visa count toward the 6 month residency requirement to DCF?  Moving back to Florida may be something we're considering.  Thanks!

Hello!

I would try to ask this on DIA. They are great help. What country is your spouse from and how long have the two of you been married? What kind of visa do you have to be here?

Yes, post on DIA. Sara is great about finding these things out. I *think* your student visa counts but I'm not sure.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Thanks Mrs. M. and balmerhon.  I've posted on DIA and have gotten some great responses.
