Anyone been to Oslo?
« on: June 04, 2007, 06:04:20 PM »
My parents are going for six days after they visit here.  My mother has a conference and then a few days free.  Any suggestions for things to see, places to go, etc?

Thank you

I almost went a year ago last christmas.  I got to the check in gate at exactly closing time and F&%*ing EasyJet wouldn't check me in.  It's supposed to be very nice, I hope your mother has a lovely time.

Thanks, that sucks!

I'm not sure what they are going to do there TBH.  I mean I know they are good at sightseeing, but three days of it, and it's not a huge city.  If there is shopping I'm sure she will be OK. ;)

we were going to a Christmas fair/bazaar they have every year so  we didn't really look into what else we were going to do.  We were just going to wing it after we did the Christmas thing and we were only going for a  1 1/2 days.

I usually check out lonelyplanet.com- here's the link to Oslo

Thanks, sent that to my parents.  I'll suggest a top 10 book to them for the trip.  That is what I always get.  Especially for short trips.  (Hmm, if only they had one on Amazon :-\\\\)

I haven't been yet, but am planning a trip next May.  Norway in a Nutshell tours come highly recommended and they have round-trip tours leaving from Oslo for 1-3 days.  It seems like a great way to see the fjords.

OOOOOOOO, thank you!  I'll send that to my mom too.  I hope they have last minute stuff.

I bought them a book just now.  Funny all Oslo books are about 100 pages if that.

That looks like a great website.  We are heading to Norway next April to visit my stepson and his mother.  I wasn't really excited about the trip, but looking at some of the photos on the site has changed my mind.  It looks gorgeous!
