A new perspective on not rinsing dishes

I know that I'm a Brit, and a cup of tea loving one at that, so I should probably know this already, but why, oh why, are they called "Tea Towels" anyway

Not that this is likely to be crucial info for anyone condidering moving here ~ Just wondered if anyone out there knows?

wow, i just got done reading this entire thread.  *lol*  i didn't realise that not rinsing dishes was a "British thing".  i just thought my husband was lazy!  

i think it pisses him off when he does the occasional load of dishes, and i start grabbing stuff and rinsing it!  i, too, have poured a glass of water/coke into a non-rinsed glass and soap bubbles have formed on top!  that's nasty!

okay, i realise that the UK dish soaps are less concentrated than the US brands that i am used to, but still...   its just gross not to rinse the bubbles off.  if you leave the water on a low flow, or turn it on and off to rinse, how much does that really cost?  not very much!

Maybe that's why the diet coke tastes so good.(soap bubbles???)

It is a scientific fact that in an age where bleaches and all these clever cleaning products the bodies resistance to many normal bacteria is diminished.  Eventualy over time our children and our childrens children may have no built up protection to even the bacteria thats nice (like the stuff that makes milk all yoghurty Mmmmmmm).  Then a simple pot of strawberry yoghurt will be as dangerous  as the bubonic plague used to be.

We in Britain don't want our children living in fear of chilled fruity products, we don't want our kids hiding in fear when the mad man round the corner starts flinging pots of greek style yogurt.  This is why we need to keep some germs alive to give our people the chance to visit the dairy department of supermarkets.  So small amount of germs allowing us to build back our resistance is the way to go.

"How do we do it Zap" I hear you all cry realising now finaly the seriousness of this, well it is easy just follow these 2 steps,

1, don't rinse your dishes
2, Ocassionaly suck your fingers while eating.

And we can take back the dairy shelves for our future families.

I've often thought how when my generation were kids, we were always messing around in muck!  These days kids are are almost kept in sterile conditions.  School, then playing games on computers and parents driving them from one thing to another cos they can't walk in case they meet a stranger! [smiley=stunned.gif]  If they aren't into real football (soccer) they probably wont come into contact with mud ever!

I'm sure I ate more than my share of dirt when I was a kid and there nothing wrong with mmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

All I do have to say is:. I kept wondering why, under gender, I kept showing up as a question mark. I went in and changed my profile 3 times, thinking it just didn't register or something. Duh! It's the female sign! In all fairness, even WITH my glasses on, it still looks like a question mark-doesn't it? Doesn't it people??

This feels kinda like when I send myself an email as a reminder or something, and my inbox immediately registers new mail, and I think "Woohoo! Mail!" before I realize it's from me.

I have to say GLenn has alwasy rinsed things off but then again his mum does as well so it must of skipped his family.

This is not a McProblem. I've never seen a Scottish person - friend or family - wash the dishes and then not rinse them.

But Wishstar and I do remember a English flat-mate being guilty of this crime...
