Jazzercise anyone?
« on: May 11, 2007, 11:06:58 PM »
I'm starting Jazzercise in a week and would like to hear anyone's opinion or experiences. My workmate lost 35 lbs in only eight weeks doing it! I have checked out the local website and it looks like a lot of fun. And the main steps they use are really easy - I used to do drill team in high school so it wasn't too hard to learn them.

I'm excited that hopefully this will help me lose some weight & I get out of the house!

Hiya,

I've never actually taken a proper Jazzercise class while I was in the states but an expat friend of mine who lived here in Greece for a year was a Jazzercise instructor before she moved. She and I did Jazzercise in her (large) living room.  :D I *loved* it. It is a great fun and you don't even realize you are working out ..except for the sweat!

From what my friend has said, they change things up every 4 weeks or so, so that you don't get bored. New music, new steps. ..or some old steps, new order  :P

Anyways, thought I would reply since no one had. I loved it and miss it now that she has gone home! I try to modify things to fit in my teensie living room but kinda tricky.  ::)

Good luck!

I just took my first class last night and really enjoyed it. It about killed me but I'm about 50lbs overweight and still out of shape. The instructor was great and I liked the music she played. I did not know all the moves but picked them up pretty quick. The thing I really like about it is the atmosphere is really laid back and the women were really nice. There was an older man attending too which I thought was great. I did not like the feel of a gym, anyway - the machines always intimidated me and I always felt so self-conscience there.

But I can't believe I actually had fun while exercising.  :D

hehe glad you enjoyed it!

I know what you mean. My friend would bounce around her living room as if it was nothing and I might as well of been attempting to run a marathon.  ;) I wouldn't worry about not knowing all the moves and missing a step here and there. If I didn't know what to do, I just did something to keep moving. But don't be afraid to ask the instructor to show you something slowed down before/after a class if it's just not clicking.

Plus, when you do start to figure out the moves you are in danger of breaking out into jazzercise randomly when you hear the song outside of the class.  ::) If I hear 'Black Betty' or Madonna's 'I'm Sorry' I'm doing the steps in my head.  ;D

Have fun! I'm jealous. I've just joined and gym and made friends w/ the boring old treadmill.

I do Jazzercise here in NJ and am psyched that they will have it in England when I move at the end of the month!  My best friend and I started together, she became an instructor and I think I may try it out when I'm there!  DH and I think it would be a good job for me, and I could bring it back to the US when I return in a couple of years.  Jazzercise is the same worldwide, so the songs I excersise to here in Jersey are the same ones you are in ENgland...they change every month, so keep with it!  it only gets better!
