Hiya

Xe.com and MoneyCorp are ones I've read about and are well reputed. I think it's MoneyCorp who allow the 'fix' of the rate for up to 2 years - i'll confirm later!

Chrissy7184 - Thanks for the money transfer sites! I'll take a look at them. They could be extremely helpful for sending money back to the US.

Excellent advice there, and thanks for the link, i've bookmarked it as well!

Its counterpart charity in the UK is:

http://www.cccs.co.uk/

The UK one began in the early 1990s and was modelled after the US version.  They are run & organised a little differently - due to obvious differences in the culture, laws, credit/banking, scope of each country, etc.  However, the underlying concept is the same.

If your debts are in the US, you would want to be working with the US agency.  Vice versa if your debts are in the UK. :)

Happy to help you! You get a better rate if you set up regular transfers (once a month) but theyre still fantastic.. and they re-imburse you for any fees your US bank may charge... mine charges $7 per transfer... but moneycorp puts the money back into my account out of their pocket  ;D

I'm also dealing with a situation somewhat like that.  You do need to talk to the creditors.  They don't want to have to keep calling you and are very willing to set up either monthly payments or even make a lower settlement offer.  The phone calls from them slowed down once I talked to them and told them of my situation.  It sucks being in that position.  Good luck.  :)

Hiya

Its HiFX which allow up to 2 years of 'fixing' an exchange rate. Give them a call and see if that can help you in your debt repayment plan for over there. Person you want is 'Christine Seargant'

Usually these type of places do these kinda deals when trying to buy properties abroad, but looks like from what Chrissy says that they also do other financial services too.

there's another company called 4 x money corporation, whose advert in the place in the sun magazine quotes the best exchange rate out of all the top 6 or so providers (inc hifx, travelex, moneycorp etc etc) check em out here http://www.4xcc.com/index.shtm

Hope this helps!
