Waffle makers.....where are they?? And tuna...
« on: March 21, 2003, 01:02:34 AM »
After extensive research, I have only been able to find £300 industrial strength (dualit), or cheesy heart-shaped ones (lakelandlimited). Has anyone been able to find a decent 4-square waffle-maker jus' like momma used to have? I'm toying with the idea of buying one when I'm next in the States, but I'm not sure if it would work with a transformer or converter. And I have waffle mix and Mrs Butterworth's syrup!

BTW, I found 'Chicken of the Sea' tuna at Costco. Fabulous!

I've got the lakeland waffle maker and I love it.  Granted, you've got to stand there forever making waffles, but they do come out nice and it takes exactly half a cup of waffle mix for every waffle.  I've never seen a big waffle maker here, either.  I finally gave up and asked for the little one for Christmas a couple years ago-and we use it all the time.   :)

I might have to buckle down and get the lakeland version then! I made the mistake of happening upon an American B&B website, and they have the most delicious sounding waffle recipes there, making me all hungry. Better something than nothing!

A place that I've looked at for a waffle iron was a at " http://www.ebay.co.uk/ ". Like with any auction site, your not always guaranteed to find one or one at the right price, but it's worth a look.
I havn't ordered one from there yet, but i thought about it.
Good luck with you finding one. :)

mmmm thinking about waffles with good ol' maple syrup is getting the mouth watering.

I am a BIG ebay junkie!  ;D I have in the past looked about bidding on a waffle maker from the US one but the shipping costs are usually so high! A couple of sellers outright refused to sell to me when I asked them for shipping costs when they saw I was overseas. I'll keep checking for UK based waffle listings.

Thanks for the link biggest_apple! I haven't actually gone onto that site yet...oooooh, so many more things to buyyy... [smiley=evilgrin.gif]

For people still looking for waffle makers, as I had been about a month ago:

I went looking for one when I saw that Argos only had a small Disney mickey mouse one!
