Wandsworth?
« on: July 19, 2007, 09:10:44 PM »
Hello,
We're contemplating a move to London next year and I'm trying to discern where the best area is? I know Central London maybe out of our range and with 2 dogs I would really like to have a garden. I've been looking in Wandsworth which seems affordable and am wondering if anybody has suggestions on where in Wandsworth (or anywhere else in Greater London) is a good locale for a young professional couple with no children.

Wanstead in east London is a great place, loads of cafe's, bar's and restaurants. The High Street is great, the nearby common land is great expanse of open space. Check it out, east London's secret garden !

Hi Jayne.

This topic has come up quite a bit and there are no easy answers. Where you end up will depend mostly on where you guys will be working (transportation issues) and what you can afford.

Have a look at the other threads for some feedback, but in the end, there are tons of great places depending on what you are looking for.

Battersea is great - full of young, single professionals, great bars and restaurants, and Battersea Park will be great for the dogs.

Otherwise, there is an area that estate agents call 'Between the Commons', which is similar, but a little more green and further fromt he river.

Although Wandsworth isn't on the tube, it is great for overground train services and buses, and you can be in central london within about 10 minutes from Battersea.
