Rinkens International
« on: August 09, 2007, 08:50:38 AM »

Hi all,

Has anyone shipped with Rinkens International? Not much information comes up on them on this site or on www.movingscam.com.

I requested quotes today for a move from Los Angeles to London, UK and they were the cheapest. I got quotes from Southern Winds, Sterling, Stevens (most expensive at double), Omega Shipping West, youpakweship). I'm still waiting to hear from Rainier.

Thanks!

-Mehdi

I don't know anything about Rinkens, but I used Creighters and Freighters when I moved from NC to London last September, and they were pretty reasonable. They have franchises all over the country, so you might want to get a quote from them too. Good luck!

I've been talking with them about my move and getting some mixed signals.  Talked to them about loading my van with everything and shipping van.  They sent me all paperwork including insurance forms. Now a month later with van loaded they tell me contents of van can't be insured.. that they must be in separate crates.  Mate who referred me to them as he ships lots of stuff over has quit using them.  I'll be finding out more in next couple of days.  He used them for sometime, and then had a falling out....  I'll post back as soon as I know more.

Hi doyll,

Thanks for the post. Do let me know how it works out for you. I'm only shipping boxes (less than 100 cu/ft.) and I had my father make the calls to various movers as he used to be in marine shipping and is familiar with how things works. After speaking with about 5-7 movers, he said he got the best vibe from Rinkens.

However, since I am in no rush to book with any of them, I will wait to hear back from you.

When I started talking to Rinken I was quoted for vehicle and $250 per 4'x4'x7' high palleted crate.  Quite resonable.  Mate who recommended them to me had them charge him for 3 seperate pickups for 3 vehicles all picked up at same time and same place.  I was not informed when they reached receiver in UK and ended up paying storage fees as a result.

I'll post up as soon as I get more info.  Have emailed Mate's new carrier and should be hearing tomorrow.  If not, I'll be on road for 2 days and will let you know later in the week.

I'm trying to deal with 3 different shippers with my stuff.   :\\\'(   It's a nightmare.  They won't insure unless they pack it.. or it seems that way so far..  Contents of vehicle are only insurable for total loss once in container.. So nothing while in yard on either end.  I'm now trying to find out what if any liability shipper's are responsible for.

Will keep you informed as I find out more.

Hi Lloyd,

Thanks for the updates. It's never easy is it? I've actually gone ahead, crossed my fingers (and toes!) and booked with Rinkens. I got my booking # today (from CFR Lines USA) which quoted my rate as max. Weight (660lbs) and Cube (100.000 cft). In my initial quote from Rinkens, there was no mention of weight.

So I emailed them back and the reply was that the weight is just a mention.  The formula that they use is that for every cubic foot the weight is 6.6lbs. They also said that CFR line is Rinkens' parent company and they work out of the same office. It seems that CFR handle commercial freight while Rinkens handles personal freight like cars or household goods.
