Building Society- declined b/c not on voter roll?
« on: July 27, 2007, 11:38:31 AM »
i've been with NatWest for 4 years (our joint is with them as well).  the boy's with a local building society, norwich & peterborough.

i wanted to switch my personal & our joint to Norwich & peterborough- but the account was declined becuase I'm not on the electoral roll.

doesn't matter that i've been with natwest for 4 years.  strange.

anyone else come across this?  is this a building society thing?

Nope, it's a credit check thing. Your credit is also tied to your address which is tied to the electoral roll. It's one of the reasons I have a hard time getting credit because we have moved SO much in the last 5 years. I'm not sure if you can register with the electoral roll as a non-voting resident. I think that's been answered on here somewhere before...
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
