Job Hunting in USA
« on: March 28, 2004, 03:24:45 PM »
Hi everyone,

Just wondered for anyone who has recently moved back over (to US)if you could give me your opinions on the job market at the moment, are jobs hard to find?

I just want to get a realistic feel for the employment market at the moment, as hubby is considering going back sooner, but we don't want to jump at an inopportune time. He is the USC, but has been away for 5 years and it's hard to gauge the reality of the situation.

Tks
Sheril.

Hi there
I am not there yet - but based on my prelim job search in Sacramento California - things *looked* fine. Have you had a look at monster for jobs in the area that you will be moving to?I also looked at the local news paper - tons of job listings there.
Good luck!

Hey Missy  :)

Things are looking fine from what I can see too for CT, but without too many people to ask actually *in* the USA right now, it's so hard to know how many people are chasing the positions.

Heard some very conflicting reports, one moment the job market is more stable, but then I hear people finding it hard to get a new job and with us being away so long........

I think it was a post on here about a couple that came back very rapidly after not finding anything for a few mths - hard to know as everyone's situation is different and we would not be looking for very specialised positions ( ie: IT- which I understand is a real problem across the whole nation right now) and I hope our skills are quite transferable.

I wish you well when you get back :)

Best Wishes
Sheril.
