Yeast question for someone in the US
« on: August 23, 2007, 06:51:44 PM »
I'm trying to follow a recipe that calls for 2 packets of yeast. It's an American recipe, so I'm not exactly sure how much yeast comes in packets over there. If anyone has any yeast in their kitchen cabinet, can they let me know please!

Thanks!  :)

Googled it and found this for you...

How Much Yeast Does An Envelope (or packet) of Yeast Contain? (USA)

1 envelope or packet of Active Dry Yeast, Instant Yeast, Rapid Rise Yeast, Fast Rising Yeast or Bread Machine Yeast weighs 1/4 ounce or 7 grams which equals 2 1/4 teaspoons (11 mL).

Portuguese sweet bread. Probably tomorrow - if the weather isn't good.  ;)

Yum!!! Between this and coffee milk, you are really making me miss my childhood summer holidays to Rhode Island. Post the recipe, if you get a chance, please!

LOL!!

I haven't tried the recipe yet, so don't know if it'll be anything like Faria's (is that where you used to get yours?). Anyway, if it comes out OK, I'm happy to post the recipe!  ;D

Kate, it's sooooo good!!! It tastes exactly like the real thing! I'm eating a great hunk of it this very second. You must make it!

I used this recipe.
