Hospital ratings & Womens' hospital

Do you think they really are a good indicator of how good a hospital is?

Birmingham and Liverpool have special hospitals just for women. From their websites they sound fantastic but they only have 2 stars.  How good do you think they are?

Anybody here used them?

I have yet to hear anything bad about the Birmingham one.  I have two friends who have given birth in the Birmingham women's hospital this year and both were happy with their experiences. 

I had my baby in the Liverpool Women's in November 2006. My son was born 9 weeks early and I could not be happier that we were in a hospital with one of the best special care units. Overall my care was good as well. The maternity ward was understaffed (seems to be the NHS major problem). I had to have an emergency section so was in the delivery suite... but I have heard they have a really laid back midwive led delivery unit that people have really liked. Have not really been to other hospitals here to compare but it was nice.

There is a new website called NHS Choices (www.nhs.uk) that allows people to leave comments about their hospitals, GP surgeries, etc. - might be worth checking. It's relatively new though so there may not be many comments....
