Just an update...
we had a wonderful time in Oban!    We walked to McCraigs Tower, Pulpit Hill, and walked from Connell to Oban on the old coach road.
Our daughters (aged 6 and almost 4) enjoyed the ferry to Mull and the trip to 'Balamory'.  We bought our tickets online before we left and it was a good thing as the ferry was full.
Sadly, they were too young for us to tour the distillery-but we brought home a couple bottles.
The seafood shack is still there and the prawn sandwiches are still very tasty!
An added bonus was that we were there for the Oban highland games.
Our flat overlooked the bay so we could watch the ferries/other boats come and go.
The best thing about the holiday was that we spent  quality time together as a family.  When our oldest got too 'puffed out' to do anymore one of us would stay with her while she rested and the other would take the youngest on a walk.
We did something each day.
The worst thing was the drive up.  I feel bad for people who have to travel the M6 every day as that thing is a pain in the rear.
Thanks again everyone for their tips and advice.

I never saw this before.

Really pleased you had a great time in Oban, my brother and his family live there so i am really familiar with it and it's where my wedding was held so sweet memories.

The drive from England must be horrendous but the stretch between Callendar and Tyndrum is stunning i think.

Anyway, glad you had a great time.

Your post was very refreshing. It brought back memories.

Pretty cool the games were on and ya had a room with a view.

Glad it was good for ya'll.
Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.
