I've made it in both a glass pyrex 9x9 (doubled recipe) and in sandwich tins.  Sandwich tins had the better texture (metal is better for this one), but I would think it would be fine in a loaf, round, or sheet, whatever tickles your fancy (and size will be dicated by shape).
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

same here!!!

did you go to the shirley one? we looked in the canned fruit and the baking aisles, but no dice.

i'm making a trip to selfridges next week--that's where i found it last year.

I was at the Harborne High Street one.  I think I'll also make a trip to Selfridges.

It's starting to get chilly here in Chicago and I can't think of a better cake to make on a fall day.  I will have to try this one.  Thanks.

MTA-I wonder if I could substitute apples in this recipe?  Or, is it just for pumpkin?

DO NOT FORSAKE THE ALMIGHTY PUMPKIN!!!!

Hey!  It's not the almighty pumpkin -- it's the GREAT pumpkin!
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Not sure, but I think apples have a slightly different water content than pureed pumpkin, so that might affect the outcome.  Maybe experiment with applesauce and diced apple?  I'm all about science :)
