Texas Sheet Cake
« on: October 03, 2007, 06:12:12 PM »
Hello! Sorry if this has been answered but I didn't see anything for it. We are having a bake sale type thing on Friday at the school I teach at and I was talking about some American cakes with the staff and I think I talked myself right into making a Texas Sheet Cake, only to realize I don't know if I can get all the ingredients here or a recipe in British measurements. Any help is totally appreciated!

Is this what you mean?

If so, all those ingredients are available here. If you don't have US measuring cups here, just use one of the conversion sites to convert to weights rather than cups.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I've tried to explain these before.  I love them so much.  I'm glad to hear you can find all the ingredients here.

That is what I think of as a texas sheet cake, only they are much bigger.  I always thought they tasted between a brownie and a cake, but that may be my weird taste buds!

Looking at the recipe, it's nothing unusual on the cake front - just baked in a large jellyroll tin so that it's big and flat.

Yes that's how they taste to me too. They're like a very dense, moist chocolate cake...making them almost brownie-like, but I like them way better than brownies. And I always make mine with lots of pecans in the icing..yum. :P

ive never heard of this before either, but looking at the recipe, any cake with sour cream in sounds good to me!
