SPECIAL:
Chez Bruce: In Wandsworth. We went a couple of weeks ago and it was nothing short of AMAZING! Definitely a restaurant for special occasions. The menu is £37 for three courses I think and they've got a Michelin star
Notting Grill: Antony Worell Thompson's restaurant in Notting Hill. I say it's special, but it's really not THAT expensive - the food was lovely and the atmosphere is surprisingly laid back and rustic.
Baltic: Across from the Southwark tube. Sister restaurant to Wodka in Kensington, although I much prefer Baltic. Lovely eastern European food and gorgeous dining room for a bit of wow factor. They also do really yummy cocktails in the bar area - tons of different kinds of vodka infusions.
Live Bait: The Cut in Waterloo. We went for my birthday quite a few years ago and at the time I felt it was kind of expensive for what it was, but I guess I hadn't really considered how expensive seafood in London is really. Nice, fresh seafood.
Moro: Exmouth Market. Listed as 'Moorish' cuisine but more general European with a bit of Spanish flair. You can also do tapas at the bar if you didn't want a whole dinner.
GOOD FINDS
Asakusa: Exceptional sushi near Mornington Crescent tube. Not much in the way of atmosphere, but super fresh sushi and cheap and cheerful!
Little Bay: Farringdon Road. Super, super cheap! The prices are shamefully small, you kind of feel like you're putting one over on someone by eating there. We've been there tons and it's pretty consistent.
Maison Don Fillipe: The Cut in Waterloo. Really nice, authentic tapas - they serve toasted break that you rub with garlic and tomato and it is soooo good! The only other time we saw that was in Spain. They don't take bookings though and it's really difficult to get a table when you want it! (ie Friday night!)
San Marco Pizzeria: Clapham High Street. Cute little place, good for groups. We've been a few times before and I've always enjoyed it. Prices are really reasonable. I'd definitely recommend the seafood linguine.
White Hart Pub: Kennington. Just a really good little gastro pub.
The Prince Regent: Dulwich Road in Herne Hill - it's our local and it's so fab! Gastro pub that's just got a really nice warm, cozy atmosphere. The food borders on comfort (especially this time of year) and they do an amazing burger. Plus, it's right across from Brockwell Park.
