Flapjack recipe needed...DESPERATELY
« on: December 02, 2007, 10:10:46 PM »
I went to a playdate last week and the girl whose house it was made the most amazing flapjacks...they were oaty and buttery and treacly and golden syrupy and raisiny and I need them now. Does anyone have a recipe like this? I might see her tomorrow and ask...but then again, I might not!

Help!

Speaking of flapjacks, has anyone ever seen a low(er) carb version?  I've been mulling over what to put in one, but I think I need some better inspiration besides just splenda.

I guess hence the "er".   :P  I'm just thinking more something less sugary but still holding together in that flapjack sort of way.  Perhaps I should say a "diabetic" flapjack recipe?  Conveys more the sense of less-sugary and lower-GI without the visions of an Atkins-style protein-fest.  I like flapjacks but they are often just too, too sweet for me, and I don't know what would work as a substitution for the golden syrup or honey, if anything.

Probably an impossible dream...sigh.    :\\\'(

Well...I made my dream flapjacks last night...all full of treacly, oaty goodness. There are 4 of them sitting on my desk ready to be handed out to the rest of my pod.

I support your love of the lowcarb flapjack and suggest, well, nothing. Eat carbs.

after seeing this thread I had to whip up some flapjacks last night. They looked so bland and boring so I added chocolate sprinkles. I couldn't even bring myself to try one but my whole office really liked them... oh the British!! Instead I whipped up my own creation of butter, sugar, cocoa, pb, oats and muesli. YUM! of course they thought that was weird.  :P

I left out the banana though.  ??? sounded too weird!
