Moving Insurance (UK)

I know that I should probably phone my insurance company, but I haven't got the phone number or policy number to hand...and depending upon feedback here I might not need to phone them!

So, we've got a moving date of 14th December and had quotes from different removal firms.  They moving part is about the same for each of them but then there's the add-ons.  In particular Insurance!

Not only do the quotes vary quite significantly (£60 - £140), but the amount we've already forked out for this move is killing us and I want to save money wherever I can!

So, my question is...will our furniture be covered under our Home Contents Insurance (I appreciate it would depend on the specific policy, but I wondered if anyone else had already checked it out with their insurance firm?)

I thought moving companies have their own insurance?  It isn't alot but yeah I think home owners insurance covers it.

I also thought that most (reputable firms) have their own insurance. Just make sure you avoid a firm called PICKFORDS
They brand themselves as 'the careful movers' yet they managed to break no less than 21 items during my parents move. Not only that but they also showed up 5 hours late. Doesn't really help your insurance problem. I haven't used it for insurance but there's a website that gathers quotes from most major firms.
