i was hoping to get a TV with intergrated Freeview reciever.

One drawback you'll find with that is if you want to record shows for later viewing on a VCR/DVD recorder.   On most sets with integral DTT receivers, you'd need to leave the TV switched on in order to record from it.  Most of them don't have timer facilities for multiple recordings either.

If you're still looking to do freeview for your BIL you may want to consider Sky Freesat

Have a look at this list to see what's currently available if you align on the popular Astra 2/Eurobird 1 satellite cluster:

Everything shown with an "F" in the video-encryption column is free to air.

Edit:  I should have added that the FreeSat package will actually give you more channels than those, because there are some stations which are scrambled but you get a decoder card as part of the package.  So while technically these channels are not free to air, you'll still receive them for "free" as part of the deal.
