The old Oven Stuffer Roaster question again...
« on: November 21, 2007, 10:30:37 AM »
Does anyone get lovely big fat chickens like the Oven Stuffer Roasters that you can get in the states? I always think the chickens here are a bit bony and skinny...

We always like the higher end chickens in large to extra large size.  Free range from the supermarket or decent  butcher.  I love the flavor and love the juiciness of it. Though perhaps if you are looking for your typical Tyson bird a large roaster might be better as they don't get the exercise of a free range bird?

I find also that rare breeds are tastier... here in Devon we have the Devonshire Red http://www.thedevonshire.co.uk/  which is yummy even if sold by a chain butcher.

Not sure any of this helps!
