Spinoff to Starbucks/Costa/Nero topic...
« on: November 23, 2007, 10:49:13 PM »
Did you ever notice when you get a coffee at Starbucks in the UK they are never particularly hot???? I was always noticing this...so I asked the American manager of my local Starbucks (downstairs from my office) and he told me you have to ask for it American hot...they aren't allowed to heat it to the same temperature as the US Starbucks can, so its not nearly as hot.

Also, he said the UK won't be getting pumpkin spice lattes anytime soon as the UK audience see Pumpkin as a squash, not as a dessert like the North Americans do.

Just some interesting facts for you!

Interresting.

I've noticed that with Pumpkin - that's where its been deceptive to go to Cafe's with the name Pumpkin in them and they don't have any pumpkin on their menus.   >:(  The worst offender (IMO) are those Pumpkin something or another coffee shops in Rail stations!   :P

I've never been in a Starbucks in America, and i havent noticed that the Starbucks coffees here are not hot enough... but I KNOW that if i went to my Starbucks and asked for something to be made 'American Hot'... they would think i was completely off my nut.   :-X

I don't know. When I get a hot drink at at the train station places, they are always very hot. But I have had drinks from both Starbucks and other joints (both chain and independent) and they weren't very hot.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I just had a gingerbread latte at Starbucks and you're right - it was lukewarm with the first sip!

I've not had that experience at all -- everything I've ever had from Starbucks has been steaming hot.

Some of the coffee places I go to also give me too much foam in my drink.  Who wants two inches of foam in their latte?
