took chip with us on euro holiday for xmas!

Hey guys,

We drove from Kingston to Sweden for Christmas and took our Yorkie, Chip, with us. It was pretty much no sweat. We got the pets passport done with our vet here in the UK (was easy since we already had done everything to come to the UK in the first place). The only additional thing we had to do was to get another blood test for Sweden because the one for teh UK was drawn earlier than Sweden allows. (The process for Sweden is the same as the UK except for the timing of the blood test. You basically do the waiting before the blood test and not afterwards.)

There were absolutely no immigration or border controls at any point from UK to Sweden (even crossing the bridge from Denmark to Sweden). On the way back the Seafrance personnel did the pets check in Calais before we boarded and even though we had a sticker on our windshield noting we had an animal in the car, customs in Dover did not pull us over for any additional checks. It was a drive through check-in/pets check for the ferry in Calais. She looked at our pets passport and handed us the hand held scanner to read his microchip. She was confused about the two blood tests but once we explained why we needed two and told her which to enter into her computer for purposes of entry into Sweden we were fine. (I was worried there for a sec though.)

Anyway, pets on the ferry was fine even though I won't do it again because I got so seasick!!! :) Next time its the train on the eurotunnel for me (also an approved pets route i think).
