No, I didn't even like them that much as a kid. Just the occasional carefully-toasted-over-a-fire marshmallow. And, yes, the occasional rice krispy treat. Now a quick look at the ingredients puts me off: gelatin and corn syrup, ick.

Ahhh.... what I wouldn't give for a s'more!!  I wish we had a gas stove so I could do them at home. Doing them in the microwave just ain't the same!

I've had them turn out pretty well in a toaster oven. I just had to heat up one cracker with some marshmallow first, then add some chocolate later, otherwise it melts too soon.

I made RKT using UK marshmallows once...I didn't like the taste and they ended up going rock hard really fast. Yuck  :P

I love these, they're good, easy and marshmallow free.

PEANUT BUTTER RICE KRISPY TREATS

1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. white Karo syrup
1 c. smooth peanut butter
5-6 c. Rice Krispies

Heat sugar and Karo until hot. Add peanut butter and boil 1 minute. Remove from stove and add Rice Krispies. Mix well and spread into a well greased 9x13 inch pan. Cool and cut into bars.

If you want, you can put chocolate chips on top when they are still warm and spread it over for a chocolate frosting.

Does anyone else find that the marshmallow seems to go further with the Cocoa Krispies than with the regular Rice Krispies? I made a batch of each tonight. I used the same amount of marshmallows for each batch, but ended up using more Cocoa Krispies than Rice Krispies to have it mixed in well and I still have much more marshmallow on them than the regular...  ???

I wonder if the marshmallow and butter get absorbed more into the Rice Krispies and the cocoa in the Cocoa Krispies keeps it from absorbing as much...
