how long until you heard back (& documents)
« on: January 14, 2008, 08:43:18 AM »
I did it, finally pressed "submit" on all the applications I have going - except Manchester since they want a passport photo.. oh dear, to do that tomorrow.

I have to mail in my supporting documents this week, I have all my letters of references ready, and I'm waiting on my university process my transcripts (ahh frustrating), but if I didn't submit it I really would have just not done it.

For those of you who've been through this... how long until you received a decision? I submitted to UCL, Newcastle, Leeds, Leicester and Nottingham Trent, and will do Manchester as soon as my sister snaps a photo of me tomorrow.

Also - how did you submit the documents? I'm bundling my letters of recommendation and transcripts together and shipping it through USPS Express (five day mail). I figure the cost is okay since I didn't have to pay an application fee, unlike the American programs I was looking at. I'm going to be making some phone calls tonight (ack.) just to make sure that I'm on the right course as far as having my applications considered, but I'm so nervous right now, partially cos things are both in my hands and out of them!  :o

I heard within a month unofficially (through email) and 6 weeks officially (offer letter came in the mail). I applied at the end of January '06.  I sent my documents through USPS Global Express Mail (or whatever they're calling it these days...the 3-5 business day one.)
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12

I think I did Global Priority to send it.

I got confirmation that they received everything by e-mail, and then an e-mail to set up my interview a few weeks later. After the interview, I had an unofficial offer e-mail two days later, with the packet arriving here (I was already in the UK by then) a week or two after that.
Another shameless promotion for www.mclevey.com, the best place on the internet to buy art.

I applied to Manchester last year. If you fill out the forms correctly they will have an answer for you with in a month.

However, when trying to transfer us GPA to the UK system they don't allow for you to fill in the blank. So you only have the option to check either 3 or 4. ughh just click on 4 and let them look at your transcript. I made the misteak of clicking 3 thinking they would look at the true number. WRONGO!! they just tossed look at my application cus the GPA was too low. So yes it was their oversight but it caused me to defer for a year. ANNOYING!

GOOD LUCK!

maybe i will see you in the fall!

I was accepted to Leicester in mid-December, after submitting my application at the beginning of November. So...about five weeks?
