I can't believe it

Just got up to go pick my OH from the airport for her first visit to see me in the UK and the flight is delayed by a hour! Been checking the last couple of weeks and it's been ontime and up to 30 mins early all that time.
Why today?!
She texted me at 2am this morning, presumably havng boarded but still sat on the tarmac, to say they had to "change a computer" - well I guess as long as they sorted it ok!
It's not as though I can just sit at home for the extra hour as that would take me further into Manchester's rush hour and an extra 15 mins could account for that hour....so I guess I'll just get over there and grab a coffee.
A very broken up night of sleep as it is.....and woke early.

I guess I won't be on here over the next week and half.....no real need!

i know this feeling well, i say get there and have a coffee. same thing happens to us nearly every time he enters the UK. Have a great visit.

Grab yourself an extra-large coffee...there's a good chance just going through Immigration will take an hour too. My first visit was horrid...about 1.5 hrs to make it through immigration control. Worth it in the long run though...   Subsequent visits weren't so long, and my LAST visit, I waited by our normal waiting area for HIM! (My plane was almost an hour early, and there were so few people going through immigration it took about 10 minutes hehe)

Reminds me of when I made the move to the UK 2 1/2 years ago.  My flight was delayed by 4 hours, I didn't call him because he was supposed to check before he left for the airport, but he forgot and left early because he was so anxious - drove from Birmingham to Manchester and said he got to know the airport quite well!!  Cost him a small fortune to park, too...hope the visit has gone well.

Heh you have NOOOOOO idea how many times my flight has been delayed.

The only thing I have to say is

British Airways is the best air to fly.

The rest have nothing on them.

Air france is "okay" as well.

Don't trust Delta hahaha (no they are okay just not as great of service)

i think if you fly enough you will encounter problems, regardless of the airline. 

for example- BA cancelled a flight without telling my mother many years ago.  she arrived at the airport with (2) 3 year olds, to be told there wasn't another flight til the morning, and yes, you should have been told, but there's nothing they can do to help.

whereas, i've not made (2) virgin flights because of misinformation/mishandling/untrained ground staff.  i'd prefer BA over virgin.

i think the best thing you can do with travel is to go in with a positive attitude, polite words, and keeping your eye on the goal- getting there!

My DH, who was my boyfriend at the time (only online) when he first came to meet me in the States his flight was late by 7 hours, because of the weather.  He was going to have to spend the first 48 hours of his trip to the States to meet me in O'Hare Airport, but he got a last minute flight to Baltimore and I picked him up there, His orginal flight was supposed to come in at 6.30pm in my hometown (Harrisburg, Pa) but I didn't end up actually seeing him (falling in love, knowing he was the one...all that great stuff) until 1.30am.  It was torture, thank God I was so much in love with him or I would have taken it as a bad omen.
