Overheard in New York...
« on: January 29, 2008, 08:14:35 PM »
Anyone ever been on this site? http://www.overheardinnewyork.com

Its quite funny!  My personal fav...

Older woman: Excuse me, miss?
Younger woman: Yeah?
Older woman: Your veil, your burqa is very beautiful. I didn't know your people were allowed to wear it in bright colors.
Younger woman: It's not a burqa, it's a poncho. I'm Jewish. It's for the rain. I got it at TJ Maxx.

That is hysterical! I can almost hear my BF's voice as the younger woman!

That site is great, lots of good laughs but this one really made me giggle for some reason:

Old lady: My grandson Brad and his Jewish wife had a baby.
Old man: That's very nice. And they're all doing well?
Old lady: I guess.
Old man: What is the baby's name?
Old lady: I don't know. Some long Jewish name.
Teenager: They named her 'Amy,' Grandma. Her name is Amy.

That one's really good as well!

DH thinks most of them are made up, but comparing them to some of the conversations I've heard on the trains here, I don't think so!

I really like that website! I could spend a lot of time on there. I like this one:

Midwestern man, about woman spinning in center of ice rink: Awww, someone's reflecting on times passed.
New Yorker: Look at that chick in the middle -- thinks she's a fuckin' Olympian! [Yells at her] Nice work, idiot!
