you could register with and English Registry, or a honey moon registry, that way people don't feel like they are giving cash, you dont have the hassle of shipping anything, and if you feel it is not right to ask for cash the honeymoon registry could mean you could get a great holiday, just some ideas. Hubby and i are either going to ask for cash or register with a honeymoon registry. Travelcouncellors.com here in the UK is a good one. They don't charge to set it up and they are very competitive, personal too.
Also having a gift registry here wont be much different to the US, most people pay by credit card anyway and can access them online.
