eggs in the freezer?
« on: February 08, 2008, 01:59:49 PM »
Surely someone knows the answer to this very random question!

Last night, I accidently put a carton of eggs in the freezer  ???  Can they be eaten once they've defrosted? Or should I just throw them out?

When I lived in Guam most of our eggs traveled to us frozen. Yes they can be eaten but I can't say they are really that nice  :-\\\\

If it makes you feel any better I once found my keys in the refrigerator....  So scattered!

I think they'd be ok for baking but probably not for scrambled eggs or that sort of thing.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I agree. Ours were not even fully frozen they were in some strange half frozen stage I guess to get them to the shops as fresh as possible. But trust me they make an odd tasting fried egg  :P

egg whites are definitely okay
i think what ends up making frozen eggs a bit meh is the yolks.
Won't kill you but won't be as good.

That makes sense because if you buy EggBeaters (a U.S. egg subsitute --made of EGGS  ::) ), you can get it frozen. The primary ingredient is egg whites with something added to make it yellow-ish. BUT, my point is that you can get it either refrigerated or frozen, hence you should be able to eat frozen whites okay. Weird late-night logic at work...
