Fastest Train on the Island
« on: February 16, 2008, 09:56:06 PM »
Friday I caught the Virgin train from Euston Station to Liverpool Lime Street.  I thought taking the train to Nottingham from London was quick, but London to Liverpool in 2 hours and 45 minutes (177 miles by car) was excellent.  It got me to thinking, outside of all they hype surrounding catching the Eurostar to the mainland, what is the fast train/route on the island?  Any suggestions?

Its a question like how fast have you driven your car?  To some young males it can something they will do...find the best back road or quiet highway and then seek speed.  So I really enjoy speed.  I haven't taken the EuroStar since its move to St. Pancras, however prior to that, once the train made it through the channel tunnel was when the speed really opened up as it traveled across the flat norther part of France.

I have a brother-in-law who lives in Edinburgh, and though we haven't been to visit him yet it appears we can catch a national express train there in aroun 4 1/2 hours.  So the motive of my question was inquiring so that some time in the future I might be inclined to take the route of the suggested fastest train....but thanks for asking about my blog, there I try to only write about things I experience first hand...here is where I get to learn from others.  If I do use something I learn here or elsewhere I do give due credit and link back to the source.  If I don't please email me or leave a comment and call me out on it.
