Any nice places to visit near Cheltenham for a long weekend?
« on: February 14, 2008, 11:30:20 AM »
We are heading to Cheltenham for an errand and would like to make a longer weekend out of it by finding some place nice nearby to visit.  Does anyone know what's around there?  We would be driving from London; we were thinking of heading to Cardiff from there, but would love some of your expert opinions and suggestions on other places to discover too.

Thanks in advance!   :)

I'm happy to suggest Bath! We're not too far from Cheltenham, maybe an hour and a half by car??

Excellent!   ;D  Thank you.  Happy for more suggestions too, though Bath is on our list as well.
Cheers.

Cheltenham itself is gorgeous! I could easily spend a couple of days there! :)

Really?!  It would be great if we could tour around there a bit too.  Chary do you know of a website for it -- or have any suggestions on nice things to do there, etc.?  TY

There's wonderful shopping in Cheltenham, if that's your thing (it's definitely mine). That's a good day's worth of activity right there!  :)  My favourite shop is a second-hand cookbook shop. It's an amazing place! It's called Cooking the Books and is very near Montpellier Street.

Personally, I just enjoy wandering around as it's such a perfect looking Regency spa town.

You might also want to go to the racecourse I've never done that, but it sounds like fun!

DH goes to the racecourse every year for racing weekend with his brothers and he loves it.
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"
