Finding an automatic driving instructor

I need to take a few lessons to get my skills up to standard for my driving test.  I don't have the time or money to mess with learning manual (as I have been driving auto for 12+ years now), so, I want to do automatic.  But, I can't find an instructor!

I am in Northamptonshire.  Any suggestions?

I found mine through BSM - I just gave them a call and they matched me up with someone!

If you were closer, I'd totally recommend my guy - he was really laid back and we spent the time having political discussions and singing along to Century FM.

i have a question please:) if u pass ur test on an automatic that means u can only drive an automatic? i believe that is what my dh was telling me but i cant remember.....

Yes, that is true. If you pass the test on an automatic you are only licenced to drive automatics, but if you pass on a manual, you are licenced to drive either a manual or an automatic. If you take the test in an automatic and then wish to drive a manual later on down the line, you will be required to retake the test in a manual.

The private ones are probably out teaching other people to drive! How long have you given them to phone back?

lol i took 5 lessons in an automatic (then learned on a manuel, so wasted £100 lol) but it was quite similar, however he made me shift into neutral and put the handbrake on when stopped at a red light, something I was unfamiliar with since it was an auto car! my instructor talked on his mobile phone and i couldnt understand him because he spoke very broken english, so i would go with BSM or a reputable firm. in the end, i learned on a manual which is quite fun, but if you dont have the time or money, totally go for the automatic, its easy!
