I had a persistent cough last year and a colleague recommended the linctus with coedeine and that did the trick for me.    Has done so for my Dad as well.

With your situation though, I'd say try and find a GP that you're more confident in.

Any progress, Jen?  Are you better, or have you found a new doctor?
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

After the antibiotic course, I'm back to where I was before the cold. Not perfect, but not horrible. The past few days have been cold here and it's aggrivated it a bit more, which sucks.

I haven't had the time to get an appointment with a different doctor there yet. It won't be a big problem, though. I've just been preoccupied with school and money stuff.

In this next week or so, I'm going to get on all of that. (I also have to get Adam to go to the doctor for his sleep apnea, which I discovered the other night when I had insomnia and had confirmed by his mom.)

So, really, not much change at all. Less coughing, less lung noise in bed, but still not right.

I went back to the doctor today (and saw somebody different)... what a nightmare.

I've been having really bad dizzy spells where I lose my balance and feel like I'm going to pass out. On top of this, my thumb/hand/wrist has been hurting a lot, so that I can't pick up a pen, let alone the coffee pot.

He tells me that the dizzy spells (which, by the way, I have to explain for 5 minutes because that's not a common term over here or something) are because of the colds I've been having  (I have another one now, and it's just starting to head into my lungs). They've messed up my inner ears.

But, because I have a cold now, they won't do anything about it unless it continues for another 3-4 weeks.

As for the hand... tendonitis, but even though it's been excruciating for the past 3 weeks and made it hard for me to work, we have to give it another 3 weeks before they can do anything. If it's still bothering me then, he'll give me a steroid injection.

Then he told me he didn't like the high dosages of the meds I'm on (and have been on for years, and went through years of trial and error to find the right combo on).

I think next time I'll go with the speediest doc in Weston again. At least she was a bit more proactive about things.
