connecting Sky box to new tv
« on: March 13, 2008, 08:35:46 PM »
Hi,

This may be a daft question, but we may buy a used tv this weekend (bigger screen that my hubby was after), and I wondered if all we have to do is just connect the Sky box to it and it's off and running. I realize we need to reprogram the Sky remote for the new tv, but that Sky box has a little viewing card in -- does it have to be re-set in some way if you connect to a different TV?

Hiya!

Nope, you don't have to do anything to the sky box at all. Just get the new telly, position it, switch it on, and tune it into the various channels. Depending on how you connect 'from' the sky box 'to' the telly, means what you'll have to tune/connect on the back of the new TV. If you use the simple SCART connection, then make sure you know which SCART socket (if it has more than one) you plug into so you can choose that from the Telly remote to watch the satellite box on!

Basically, the Skybox is 'dumb' to what Telly you watch it on.

Thanks, Dennis, that sounds easy enough! The TV is 5 years old, but it has scart leads, so I imagine it should work just fine with a Sky box?

Hi,

Yes, the SCART connection from the Sky box to the TV should work just fine.  Just plug it in and go.   :)

good luck,
Carl
