Our Bombay
« on: May 25, 2008, 08:15:36 PM »
Today, thanks to the very kind work of a UKY member who delivered him all the way from North Yorks, our Bombay arrived.

Once he was out of the carrier, he set about about to explore every nook of the house, and he has been playing with our toddler ever since.  They adore each other, and the Bombay hasn't stopped purring for hours.

My three children are each separated by at least a decade, and each has had a Bombay to grow up with.  I think they are the best all around family cat due to their friendliness and social attitude.

Finding a reliable breeder in the UK took bloody *AGES*, but the wait was worth it.

So, when are you posting pics of the new family addition? ;D

Here's one of him sacked out across our spare bed yesterday afternoon, soaking up the sun:

Cats seem to have a type of radar that allows toddlers to take liberties that nobody else can.  Like carrying the poor cat around in a strangle hold around its neck, - which would leave an adult picking claws out of his skin - but for a toddler, it's fine.

I think it's not just toddlers. A friend's 9-month-old pulls the cat's tail and tugs at its ears and it'll just take it. But let an adult try it, and it's death to their ankles!
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

Our dog is like that as well.  Lennon has been around DH's cousin since he was a baby and has always been an angel, even if the baby was pulling and prodding him.   AI used to take him to retirement homes to visit the elderly and he was really good with them as well.  He is really rambunctious at home, but always knew not to get too excited and was on his best behaviour.

I think animals are a lot smarter than we give them credit for!
