Lost pet registration
« on: February 22, 2005, 02:48:35 PM »
To bring my dog over, I got her fitted with a Home Again microchip.  Included in the cost of the chip is a registration service where someone can call Home Again and give them the number on her tag (if she's still wearing her collar) or from the microchip (if she was picked up by animal control or someone with a chip reader.)  Home Again then has my contact information to tell me "Hey, someone found your dog!"

Since I'm bringing her over, I want to register her with a UK service.   Does anyone have any recommendations?  I'd want a service that has a collar tag and phone number, as well as one that can keep her microchip number in their database.

Thanks!

Shell,

My cat was registered with "idENTICHIP" almost 5 years ago.

idENTICHIP, P.O. Box 33, Common Road, Donnington, York, YO19 5YW.

Tel. (01904) 487600   Fax: (01904) 487611

I'm not sure of any compatibility issues between chips and scanners used here and in the U.S., so you might need to check on that.  For what it's worth, the chip/scanner type listed on my certificate is "Dextron Fearing."

I researched the chip back when I had that done, and chose the Home Again because it matched European standards.  But thanks for the link.  I will check into it.  :)

We used Home Again and now they are scannable at the Tesco check out... ;D

Actually we choose it for the same reason.... it is 100% compatible...

Shell I don't know of any specific services, but I will post if I do run into one....we are going for an annual check up in March and I will talk to the vet then and ask for you about location services.
