I haven't thought about sambar since I lived in India, you've just made me crave it.  If you get it to work, please let me have your recipe.

I hope you do it with puri not idli!

The only thing I ever tanked at was almond macaroons. Sainsburys has those lovely ones in their bakery that are just perfect. Mine always came out flat and sticking to the tin.  Tried 3x and I still burn with the defeat.

I thought of another one, I stink at hospital corners.  My Mom can make a bed you can bounce a quarter off of, me, I need fitted sheets.

The right question is what can't I get right everyday!

Um...right now my issue when I bake is frosting...obviously!  ::) hopefully it comes out right tomorrow!

I just do apples and crumble since the apples have some moisture that bakes down.

me too. i use oatmeal in the crumble mix as well, so it sits much better on top of the fruit than just breadcrumbs.

I love Carrot Cake. My son loves Carrot Cake, my husband loves Carrot Cake...but I can't get the frosting right.

It never comes out right, its never smooth. It always has lumps of cream cheese in it...the butter, smooth, cream cheese lumpy. I use a Kitchenaid Mixer...but its not right. It stays kind of limp in the fridge, it never gets hard enough to make a layer cake.

Any tips???

And what do you always get wrong??? I want to know!

Try Antony Worrall Thompson's recipe
http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/creamcheesefrosting_72782.shtml

I am sure I just blitzed it with my Braun Multimix, and I used Philly cream cheese. I think I even remember managing it with the reduced fat version. Good luck!
Good things come to those who wait...a really long time.

I've tried to make them once and I was waaaaay off. DF still managed to eat them, though.  :P
