Before I was a parent I only registered with a GP if I needed to see someone because I never get sick.  A woman I worked with didn't have a GP, found a lump and went straight to the hospital. Turned out it was the best thing she could have done as it was cancerous and it got dealt with immediately instead of waiting aorund on a GP referral for weeks.

Did she go to A&E? When was this? I know in our area there's very little chance you'd get in to see a consultant without a referral!!

You're right, AnneR, which I why I am now *finally* registered!

Good girl.  ;)

It was in 2001 or 2002, St Marys Hospital in Paddington.  Yes she went to A&E.

Sigh...antibiotics didn't work...still in a good amount of pain... got a call that the doctor wants me to come in to discuss the test results...
A bit nervous, sure its nothing, but still, after 3 weeks with this pain, I'm not too happy!
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

Aw, I hope you feel better soon.

I went to an NHS doctor for the first time on Saturday.  I just registered a month or so ago.  My excuse?  I am totally doctoraphobic.  I wish I had gone before.  The doctor I had was really nice.
