He's a Doctor Doctor!  Oh, he should have been a surgeon.  Then he could confuse everyone and be Mister Doctor.  Hee!

Okay... it's late and I'm a bit loopy.  I'll stop now.  ;D

This story was told me me as a true story ... a guy whose surname was Doctor went to medical school and so became Doctor Doctor. Then he married a nurse who became Nurse Doctor!

Dr. is a physician and Mr. is a surgeon. The specialty doesn't matter.

Nurses? No idea.

I always just thought 'Mr." was a higher ranking doctor.

Now let's discuss 'sister' and 'matron'. Do they even have 'matrons' anymore?

Thanx Britwife! now I have that terrible 80s Thompson Twins Song "Doctor Doctor" in my head!  ;D Thats going to be there all day now!

I think you still get Matrons...School Matrons and community Matrons...I would rank them higher than a Sister..but I have no evidence for that comment!

The best Matron ever...Hetty Jakes from the Carry On films  ;)

There are definitely still matrons. When someone has an issue with something on a hospital ward I usually direct them to the Ward Matron!

We have one 'matron' for our hospital.  They are the big cheeses.  Each ward has it's own sister/charge nurse (if he is male) who is in charge of the ward.  It was that way when I worked in London as well.
