Okay, so back story... I'm American, wife British, married 8 years all in California. Moved here in December to be closer to her family for our two children (4 & 2) and for my wife to ask for a separation. (Ouch! yes, but I kinda saw it coming so I knew what I was getting into)
Problem: Lease is up June 5th, She moving out this Friday. She found a place in Ealing and B/C we have two little ones we want to be close to each other for the children needs, day care, time sharing with them.
So I need to find a place to live now too but haven't a clue where to start. I make 40k annual, which I think is okay? (no? maybe? I'm told I shouldn't get used to eating) and from what i've worked out I can afford nothing more than 1,000 pounds per month. (then I get to eat once a day)
What I'm looking for is ANY advice on how to find really great deals (if they are out there). I need a 2/3 bedroom. I would love to have something with a little garden. One thought I had was that I am very good handyman . Completely rebuilt our house back in California and increased it's value by $100k, I'mcompletely willing to work on homes/flats and save the landlord money but is that crazy here or what?
