My wife & I are moving to UK this summer, and are shipping our stuff in about a week or so. I had a question: we have some new furniture we bought, but have taken it out of the boxes it came in. My wife was particularly scared about having to pay a fine or tariff on shipping these new furniture items to UK. Has anyone found this to be a problem? If so, how does one get around it? I figured if we have taken it out of the boxes, it is pretty much not new anymore. Besides, how do they know how old a piece of furniture is anyway? Any suggestions?
